Well anyhow, we got rid of the other validations and now we're running smoothly. Ora-00904 i have tried as you told but it is not exucuting the value for dname.if i keep dname as non database item.it is only executing the columns for empYou're talking about Is it a known problem in Oracle forms 6i which can be solved by use of any patch ?

I would like to see the ORA error number and message, but when i install an On-Error trigger routine for this purpose I get ORA-00000 operation successful, which cannot be right. and possibly in other Oracle Forms environments, shows the query as constructed and the ORA error message. Maybe one of the values passed to your parameters has a single apostrophe embedded in it. But, I am not sure where to effect that change (rectify column name), which is not matching with one of my database table column names.
